What is the AthlyAI MCP?
The AthlyAI MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that connects your AthlyAI account to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. Once connected, the AI can search college coaches, check scholarship eligibility, and prepare recruiting emails from your real profile and send them from your chat.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely use external tools. The AthlyAI MCP exposes AthlyAI's recruiting tools — its database of 30,107 coaches, scholarship eligibility logic and email outreach engine — so any MCP-compatible AI can act on your behalf, scoped to your own account.

Is it free, and what counts against my plan?
Connecting is free with any AthlyAI account. Reading — searching coaches, checking eligibility, viewing your profile — never counts against anything. Sending a recruiting email from an AI client needs AthlyAI Pro or Elite and counts against your daily send limit exactly as it does inside the app.

Questions about the MCP.
Is it secure?
Yes. You log in with your own AthlyAI account through your browser — the AI client never sees your password, and there are no API keys to leak. You can review and disconnect any connected app at any time from your dashboard.
Does it count against my plan?
Connecting works with any AthlyAI account, and everything that is not sending is never counted: searching coaches, checking eligibility and reading your profile. Sending a recruiting email from an AI client needs AthlyAI Pro or Elite and counts against your daily send limit exactly as it does inside the app: up to 40 coach emails a day on Pro, up to 400 a day on Elite.
Can ChatGPT or Claude help me email college coaches?
Yes. By connecting the AthlyAI MCP to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or Claude Code, the AI can pull ready-to-send recruiting emails built from your real AthlyAI profile and chosen template, and send them to college coaches for you. You review each email before it goes out. Sending needs AthlyAI Pro or Elite, and each send counts against your daily send limit like any other email you send from the app.
How do athletes find college coaches with AI?
With the AthlyAI MCP connected, you ask your AI assistant to search AthlyAI's database of 30,107 verified coaches across 1,442 schools by sport, division, and location. The find_my_coaches skill builds a shortlist that fits your level and goals, so you can go from a blank page to a target list in one conversation.
Can college coaches use AthlyAI through AI to find athletes?
Yes. Coaches who connect the AthlyAI MCP can ask their AI assistant to search and view athlete profiles by sport, position, country, and graduation year — a direct way to discover international and domestic talent without leaving their chat.
Which AI assistants work with AthlyAI?
Any AI client that supports MCP connectors works with AthlyAI, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude Code. You add the same connect URL — https://athlyai.com/api/mcp — in each one and log in once with your AthlyAI account.
How do I disconnect an app?
Go to your AthlyAI dashboard, open the MCP connections page, and click Disconnect on any app — or Disconnect all to revoke everything at once. Access is revoked immediately.
What can connected apps access?
Only what you grant during login, scoped to your own account — your recruiting profile, coach search, eligibility, and email tools. A connected app can never see another user's data.
